I really wanted to share this picture because it brought a couple scenarios to mind that I feel many people can relate to. We all encounter mental crossroads everyday, some days just have more significant crossroads than others. We all have the same amount of time in the day and how we choose to spend that time is the crossroad. The choice between multiple decisions is the crossroad.

These crossroads do not have to be a right or wrong direction they can simply just different directions that will take you different places. Some directions may be less fulfilling than others but than does not make them worse. Some directions may be more fulfilling than others but that does not make them better. Every decision made takes an individual somewhere else in their life and even right now we are all here because of a cumulation of decisions, or crossroads.

I especially like this image, not only because of how I feel it can signify everyday decision making but because of the fact that it is a railroad crossing. You can come up to a crossing and a train may be obstructing your path. To me the passing train can be good or bad, or even both. The train may stall you from reaching your desired location and thus delaying your arrival. At the same time, this delay may have been just what was needed to move on more efficiently.

Part of what makes a person who and where they are is the cumulation of their decisions of their entire life. Making poor decisions can sometimes be the best thing that could happen and making only right decisions can leave someone at a disadvantage. The best thing that anyone can do is reflect and keep moving.

Sunday Reflections

Habitual Mindfulness One of the best practices I have ever implemented consistently is habitual reflection. This could be something that you do every day, a couple days a week, or once a week. I wouldn't advise doing it less than once a week because then I feel like there is almost too much to reflect on that some things might not get the attention they deserve. Reflections do not have to be some sort of lengthy event and it does not have to be all at once. I personally like to reflect for a few minutes at a time throughout my day while doing other things because that is the way my mind likes to work.
